Rhino’s Note: FootyRhino has always been a self-indulgent rant hole for Rhino to stand on a soap box, a high horse, or something else that makes you taller. Never before have we welcomed other writers, voices, opinions, Caleb Daniel’s. In 2016 that has changed.

Josh provides us with the In’n’Out on Thursday nights, a detailed look at the key team selections, and Joel screams and cries like a little bitch every Wednesday with THE ANGRY RANT, releasing the inner fantasy demon inside us all.

Now, we’re introducing another weekly offering, JIMBOB’S MIDWEEK RAMBLE.

You might remember JimBob  – he wrote for DTTALK for a few years, and has been a smiling face on the Citrus Finance ad on top of the FootyRhino page for a while now. He knows his stuff, and spends, like you, far too much time worrying about break-evens, breakouts, and breaking his hand when he punches a door after Michael Barlow throws out another turd.

Every week JimBob will talk trends, value, run some numbers and give you sage advice that you can take to the bank. Or at the very least take you to your therapist when you finally get admitted to the local funny farm.

JimBob’s Midweek Ramble

A bit under the weather this week. Have a serious condition called Man-Flu. Don’t worry, I’ll get through it. Just need a spoon of cement, that is all Mrs JimBob offered me.

Round 15 should be in theory easier than the last round – 12 teams to pick from! Hopefully you will have added four players that improve your team and can continue this trend. I think it’s also a good time to Zig when other coaches Zag. Hopefully I can highlight a couple of players that may aid the path less travelled and reward you handsomely.

Who to downgrade to: Nathan Broad ($138k, b/e 2) was a late in on Sunday and likely be an early out on Thursday. Nice to see he is around the mark in regards to best 22, but it was Gold Coast he played.

Who to upgrade to:

Last week I said Rory Laird ($472k, b/e 99) may not be cheaper again. He is cheaper this week. I do love his run home so would still back him every day of the week. Bernie Vince ($519k b/e 82) has been super all year. Like lowest score of 83 super. Also has a friendly run home.  I would make him a priority down back. Brayden Maynard ($383k, b/e 20) has come from nowhere in the last four weeks, averaging 103 in that period. A good stepping stone.

Hold off a week:

Matthew ‘Boring’ Boyd ($525k, b/e 114) plays Sydney away and Richmond in his next two games so if you need more than one back upgrade, I don’t think he will be going up too much in the next couple of weeks.

Who to downgrade to:  Tom Phillips ($179k, b/e -27) is the top trade in target this week and can get him as a forward too. I like his job security now that Collingwood’s season is been pretty much cooked.

Who to upgrade to: Rory Sloane $562k, b/e 89) was the highest scorer of the round and now in the conversation of a top 10 Mid with a three round average of 128. As with Laird, I love their run home. Hopefully his partner in crime Scott Thompson ($449k, b/e 80) step up to the plate or Rory could be a ‘Sloane Ranger’ in the Adelaide Midfield. With Gary Ablett ($541k, b/e 74) in the form he is in, I don’t need to tell you why trade him in.

It pains me to say, but West Coast are close to fantasy irrelevance this season. outside of Matt Priddis ($507k, b/e 107), Andrew Gaff ($417k, b/e 103) is probably the only other option to consider. Now he has finally gained conscious after being clocked by Tom Jonas, I’ll back Gaffy in to get back to his best for the rest of the season. Whether being flat track bullies at home or whipping boys away, Gaff is one of the consistent few to put up similar numbers in either situation. With a favourable draw coming up – Essendon (H), North (H), Carlton (A), Melbourne (H), Collingwood (A) and Freo (A) he could go on a consistent tear.

Hold off a week – Dan Hannebery ($543k, b/e 133) is already the cheapest price of the season and should go well this week against the bulldogs. I thought Steele Sidebottom ($514k, b/e 134) and Scott Pendlebury ($550k, b/e 135) would be cherry ripe this week, but with 85 and 83 respectively last week, you should be able to grab them a lot cheaper soon.

One option and one option only – MAXIMUM GAWN ($529k, b/e 60).

Who to downgrade to: Tom Phillips ($179k, b/e -27) – in case you skipped the midfield part. James Rose ($283k, b/e -4) is just too darn expensive.

Who to upgrade to:

I’m gonna make a Yay and Nay list for this week.

  • Dustin Martin ($542k, b/e 88) – Brownlow fancy?
  • Brett Deledio ($490k, b/e 102) – consistent as buggery
  • Lance Franklin ($456k, b/e 92) – point of difference
  • Adam Cooney ($465k, b/e 73) – L5 98 average and 1300 owners!
  • Joey Montagna ($491k, b/e 85) – lots of etihad games coming up – thanks @DAV087

  • Nick Riewoldt: ($564k, b/e 129) – don’t think he can continue this form.
  • Zach Merrett – ($563k b/e 111) – you’re paying for 113 average – no!
  • Robbie Gray – ($477k, b/e 100) – playing Richmond who aren’t giving up points.
  • Mark Lecras – ($384k, b/e 88) – just in terrible form – maybe in Fantasy Champ.

JimBob’s BIG Board of Bang for Bucks

It’s evolving. Not just the cheap meat, but players who are punching above their weight (Shaun Hampson) or money.

Play Fantasy Champ here.

Tom Phillips $17pp – lockety lock this week.

Anthony McDonald – Tipungwati – $50pp – Last four averaging 89. Consistent too.

Brayden Maynard – $40 pp – 110 average in his last four! Absolute bargain.

Zac Williams – $49pp– averaging 100 and under $5000!

Will Hams – $35pp

Jason Tutt – $37pp – ew

Rory Atkins $37pp

Matt Crouch –  $47pp Winning the crouch off – but cheaper than his big brother!

Seb Ross – $58pp – averaging 140 in his last two games

Scott Lycett – $56 – should go well as #1 ruck as long as he blows under .05 before the game.

Shaun Hampson – $48pp – plays the ruckless port this week.

Tom Nicholls – $49pp – because why not.

Tim Membrey – $35pp  – plays Gold Coast this week.

Ben Reid – $46pp – been pretty consistent for a key defender.

Jarryd Lyons – $41pp –still great bang for buck

Jamie Cripps – $55pp – epitomises the eagles – scored 151 against Brisbane two weeks ago!

Well that’s it for this week. Don’t forget, I may be average at Fantasy Champ, but not at Mortgage Broking. I’ve decided to keep the offer going past week one. If you’re in Perth and want to see me for a review of your mortgage, and I can’t find you a better interest rate for your home loan, I’ll get Rhino to put $100 into a Fantasy Champ account for you. Interstate? Well there is thing called ‘the internet’, I’m sure we can work it out! What can you do with that money? Well you can take it out and spend it on booze or magic beans if you want. Or you could have 20 free hits on the $5 games. Who knows how much more you can make? You’ll likely get my money for free. For more details, find me on twitter @jimbobholder or click on the link at the top of this page to get all my other important details.

Good luck this week. Score well and try to stay sane.
